As a birth photographer, I know how important it is to go with the flow. From the moment a client calls me, I have to find the perfect balance of running around like a chicken with my head cut off (making sure my kids are taken care of and gathering everything I might need) and relaxing into a zen-like mama bear state ready to bring calm and confidence to my client and her family. I have no way of knowing if I'll be back home in 4 hours or 40 hours. Labor might be a frantic whirlwind of excitement or a long, drawn out process.
Surely you have waited in anticipation for both types of situations to resolve into a beautiful bundle of joy. You stalk Facebook pages, bite your fingernails to keep from texting the laboring mommy, call other family members to see if they have possibly attained a higher level of privilege to details...you just cannot WAIT for an UPDATE! Your heart is tied in knots wondering how mama is doing and if she is already snuggling with that sweet smelling baby.
