Henley's Home

Lifestyle newborn sessions are quickly becoming one of my very favorite genres.

I absolutely love working with itty bitties, but at the same time, I'm of the "never wake a sleeping baby camp," so I always feel dirty after a studio session where we focus on posing. All of that work to create the perfect sleepy environment and  then everything we do to get her sound asleep just to see how much we can get away with before she wakes up.

I'd be seriously PO'd if someone did that to me!

As cute as those pictures are, I prefer lifestyle newborn sessions where I'm capturing the family as they are just starting to create their new routines around their sweet addition.

I love the natural light and overall warmth (I don't mean the temperature, which should always be uncomfortably warm in order to help your little one stay cozy).

I'm happy to do some simple baby-led posing to get beautiful portraits of your cutie.

And I'm always up for a round of catch the sleep smiles. Oh my, I LOVE me some sleepy smiles!

And wrinkles and toes...Squee!

Everything feels so relaxed and welcoming.

I love that everywhere I look, I can find beauty in the details.

And even the dads seem more engaged.

The opportunities to involve even the wiggliest of siblings are plentiful.

And don't forget about the furry family members!

Henley's big sister was bouncing off the walls for the full 3 hours, but we were able to wait her out and capture some of those first moments of connection. These two will be best of friends before you know it!

It's so easy to get a quick change of scenery. Check out Henley's first time on a swing!

And yes, I realize not everyone has such an amazing backyard,
but there's a lot we can do with very little!

Big sister really gave us a run for our money, but BOOM! First family picture!

It was crazy hot out, so we returned to the relatively cool inside for more bonding.

If you ever hear my camera shutter clicking rapidly away during a newborn session, you can be pretty much guaranteed I've spotted a smile or a nice, big yawn.

We ended this beautiful newborn session with bath and story time. I'm so glad I was able to capture such precious moments for this family. Newborns change so quickly in the first weeks and the exhaustion can make it very difficult to remember the details.

Forever cherish those details and forever hold that sweet baby close to your heart.
